I can imagine that in searching for a counselor, you (or your child) have been experiencing difficulties, struggling with mental health, and/or looking to make a change. I understand that finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, especially when you may not know exactly what you need or where to begin. My goal in providing individual counseling to children, adolescents, and adults is to make that first step into therapy feel comfortable and supported.
If you or your child (ages 5+) are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, trauma, self-esteem challenges, substance use, or behavioral/relationship concerns, counseling can help you feel better. I remain person-centered and strive to create a safe, judgment-free space where you can feel heard, understood, and validated. I recognize that everyone comes to therapy with a different story, and I remain empathetic and understanding as we work together to identify where you can start making changes.
I have past experience working in a variety of settings including an inpatient substance use facility, community agency, and school-based therapy. In these environments, I’ve worked to treat anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, behavioral concerns, self-esteem challenges, and relationship or family difficulties. I utilize evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Play Therapy, Mindfulness-based practices, and Motivational Interviewing. These approaches can help you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while building greater coping skills and confidence. My experience working in different settings and age groups has helped me develop a wide range of clinical skills to support my patients’ difficulties.
I achieved my Bachelor’s degree at the University at Buffalo and completed my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Niagara University. Outside the therapy office, I enjoy being a husband and cat dad, connecting with friends and family, listening to lots of music, watching movies, and playing video, board, or card games.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy, you just need to take the first step. If you are looking for a therapist for yourself or your child, I welcome the opportunity to learn more about what you are experiencing and determine if I may be able to help.
